Saskia Lankhoorn, born in May 1979 in Naarden (Netherlands), studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague with Naum Grubert. She graduated Cum Laude for both her Bachelors (2002) and Masters (2005). She also took several lessons with Rudolf Jansen.
She made her first appearance on national radio in 1995, playing Sechs Kleine Klavierstücke opus 19 by Arnold Schönberg. Three years later won the first prize in the national Prinses Christina Competition. She performs both as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the Netherlands and is very active in the contemporary music scene. With her own ensemble, Klang, she has toured the Czech Republic, Scotland and the United States.In 2009 she debuted with her solo programme ‘Music out of the City’, with works by Kate Moore and Horatiu Radulescu. She recorded solo piano work by dutch composer Peter Adriaansz. And she recently recorded all the solo piano works by Kate Moore.In April 2007 duo Sekhuis/Lankhoorn was a finalist in the Concertgebouw’s 58th Vriendenkrans Competition where she was honoured with both the press prize and the public’s award.
